Vela Scarves is an online store run by Marwa Atik. She designs lovely hijab styles, and sews them herself! And she's only 20! The designs are fresh and appealing to young Muslim women in the US.

About Marwa Atik, the hijab fashion designer:

Atik, whose parents are from Syria, began wearing the head scarf in eighth grade. She was the editor of her high school yearbook but found herself spending more time browsing fashion websites than looking at photos of student clubs and activities. After school she would spend hours at Wal-Mart reading fashion magazines. In the summer of 2009 when she and Diab decided to design hijabs, she took sewing classes, the youngest among a group of elderly women making patterned quilts.

Atik has taken the Muslim head scarf, often known as hijab, and turned it into a canvas for her fashion sensibilities, with ideas inspired by designs from Forever 21 and H&M as well as haute couture runways and the pages of Vogue and Elle. Showing her latest design at a mosque was her way of gauging sentiment on scarves that go beyond the limited fashion realm they have thus far inhabited, such as floral and geometric prints or lace and beaded embellishments.

Arabic Bridal Hairstyles | Get Beautiful Hair for Your Wedding

Here are some traditional Arab and Middle Eastern hair care secrets that is used to get healthy, thick and shining hair. Try these Arabic hair care solutions out so that you get beautiful hair in time for your wedding. Keep in mind that you will have to stick to a hair card routine for at least a month in order for it to have effect.

Arabic Hair Care Solution 1:
Arab women use coconut oil for their hair - a hair care secret that is also used by South Asian women. Apply the coconut oil to the hair, then wrap it in a cloth so that your hair does not dirty your clothes. It is best to leave the coconut oil in your hair for at least 9 to 10 hours. So most people leave the coconut oil in their hair overnight, while they sleep. But if you are at home all day, then you can leave it during the day as well. This is not a good hair care solution for those with dandruff. If you do this, each time before your hair wash day (every two days for instance) for a month, then Your hair will become thicker and shiny.

Arabic Hair Care Solution 2:
Mix apricot and coconut protein cream (look for this product in Arab grocery stores in the US). Apply for 10 minutes, then wash hair with regular shampoo after use.

Arabic Hair Care Solution 3:
Grind fenugreek seeds. Then mix with coconut or olive oil. Leave the mix aside for about 10 days. Then apply the mix onto the hair. Do this twice a week.

Arabic Hair Care Solution 4:
Mix natural olive oil, sesame oil, 25 ml of dry ground elisa grass (has a nice smell), 25 ml of ground black seeds, and almond oil. Use the mix two times per week for one or two hours. Massage it into your hair with circular movements.

What is the dabke? Have you seen this folk dance at an Arab wedding, and wondered what it was? Well, this line dance is popular at Arab wedding celebrations. Both men and women perform this dance. But you would probably see the men perform it in weddings. Women will perform the dabke dance amongst themselves.

If you are wondering what would be a good entertainment for your wedding guests, consider hiring a dabke group to perform at your wedding.

Dabke (dabka or dabkeh) is the most popular Arab folk dance in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and in Palestine. It is also danced in parts of Egypt, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. A line dance, it is widely performed at weddings and joyous occasions. The leader of the dabke heads the line, alternating between facing the audience and the other dancers.

Dabke in Arabic is literally "stamping of the feet." The leader, called raas ("head") or lawweeh ("waver"), is allowed to improvise on the type of dabke. The leader twirls a handkerchief or string of beads known as a masbha (similar to a rosary), while the rest of the dancers keep the rhythm. The dancers also use vocalizations to show energy and keep up the beat. The dabke leader is supposed to be like a tree, with arms in the air, a proud and upright trunk, and feet that stomp the ground in rhythm. At weddings, the singer begins with a mawwal. The raas or lawweeh takes the lead. Everyone does a basic 1-2-3 step before the song kicks in. At weddings, the dance is sometimes performed by a professional troupe dressed in costume.

The dabke was popularized in the 20th century by the Lebanese composers Assi and Mansour Rahbani and singers like Zaki Nassif, Fairuz, Wadih el Safi, and Nasri Shamseddine. Lebanon's most famous dabke troupe was the Firkat el Arz. Other troupes today include Ibdaa, Sareyyet Ramallah, and El-Funoun.
